Our mini series: "A Tribute to Those Who Make a Difference"  was created to highlight and recognize the super star employees of Hotel Ruby Foo`s. Over the years our employees have been a vital part of our success and an excellent representation of our work culture. We are proud to work with such an amazing, diverse and multi-talented team. 

She is a successful manager of hockey teams and a lifeguard who knows to count money $$!

A Beautiful lady with a confident posture and calm look, she feels herself at home at Ruby Foo’s, and every day she makes sure that everything is in order here. Why, will you ask? Because she has been with us for 31 years, it is more than a job. 
Please, meet Carol Svendsen, our Financial Controller.

Moto: You have to live every day!

As a 17 year old finance student of Champlain College, Carol started as a summertime lifeguard at our swimming pool. Responsible, smart, and charming Carol was noticed by the Front Desk Manager and began to work at the Front Desk and in the Reservations department. Later on in her career, she was offered the position in Accounting.

She enjoyed working with 3 different General Managers and knows everything about the Ruby Foo’s hotel. She loves challenges, she is always ready for changes and unpredictable situations (not even COVID could scare Carol). Ruby Foo’s is like a family, she recalls with warmth many collegues and all the fun Christmas parties and Cabana Sucre adventures.

Carol admits that she could change her career many times, but the numbers are her strength and her calling. At work and home, she likes to balance things. 1+1 should always make 2, and it is non-negotiable! 

 In her free time, Carol successfully manages 2 hockey teams, 2 excellent hockey players – her sons, and a coach – Carol’s husband. We bet that she could organize the Olympic Games, but we are sorry, dear Olympic Committee, we found this talent first! Carol strongly values the team and friendly atmosphere at Hotel Ruby Foo’s and we feel that she has our backs in daily finance!
