Today is a special day! 

It  marks the beginning of our first published article in a new series that we call:

​A Tribute to Those Who Make A Difference.

Our mini series was created to highlight and recognize the super star employees of Hotel Ruby Foo`s.Over the years our employees have been a vital part of our success and an excellent representation of our work culture. We are proud to work with such an amazing, diverse and multi-talented team. Without further ado, please enjoy reading our first article!

Introducting: Derek Adams, Front Desk Agent, 9 years at Hotel Ruby Foo’s

He wants to be a railroad worker, he receives 100$ tips and likes to chat with celebrities at work. Guess who?

A handsome young man at the Front Desk, with expressive eyes (this is what we get to see nowadays, right?) calm voice, and impeccable manners: Derek Adams 

Hobbies: All the outdoors activities, fishing, snorkeling, traveling

Zodiac sign: Gemini

Derek is a second-generation Ruby Foo’s employee. He was recommended for the position of Concierge/Bellman by his father, Sam Adams, who, in his turn, spent around 30 years at our hotel.

Derek admits that hospitality is in his nature. He truly enjoys welcoming people, providing good service, and making the guests of the hotel happy.
Would he like to do anything else in his life? After thinking for a while, Derek says that he could probably try something opposite – A type of work that is more physical and individual. Like.. a railroad worker! But we are very sorry, dear Railways of Canada, we found this talent first!

Derek gets to meet different people every day, he can share a lot of interesting stories which had happened during his career. One of the memorable moments was when he raised his eyes just to see the famous George St-Pierre in front of him, the man he had been admiring! He recalls too, how once a guest called from his room to ask for help with the luggage, as he was having back pain. Derek did help the man who was clearly suffering with numerous suitcases, noticing that he was wearing rather shabby simple clothes. How surprised Derek was to see that the very well-dressed family in a luxurious car was waiting for him outside the hotel! And 100$ tip that he got from a Middle-Eastern oil-business owner (as he found out later), was of less value than an important lesson he learned that day – never judge people by their look!
